Parameswaran Nair and other researchers at FIRH in collaboration with researchers at Western university are developing an innovative lung imaging method that provides a unique window on asthma.
Researchers at McMaster and Western universities are developing an innovative lung imaging method that provides a unique window on asthma. The method is aimed at guiding and personalizing treatment for Canadians with severe, poorly controlled asthma. Dr. Parameswaran Nair is an author of the study. Nair is a professor of medicine at McMaster’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, a scientist at the FIRH and a respirologist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
“Airway inflammation can be identified reliably by cell-based measurements of patient sputum and smooth muscle dysfunction can be identified by assessing airway sensitivity to stimuli, tests developed at McMaster University,” said Nair.
