Stroke is a serious chronic condition that results in loss of blood supply and deprivation of oxygen to the brain. It is a leading cause of disability and death in adults today. Evidence has shown that stroke survivors, or individual’s living with stroke, who are physically active activity are less likely to become disabled. This video looks at how physical activity after stroke reduces the chance of recurrent strokes and increases the ability to perform daily activities. Community-based exercise programs, regular aerobic exercises and tracking physical activity with activity monitors are effective interventions to regain significant function and reduce the risk of complications from stroke.
