Eileen Hutton has been reappointed assistant dean of midwifery, while David Koff and Cathy Risdon have been named acting chairs for radiology and family medicine, respectively.
After two terms as assistant dean of midwifery, Eileen Hutton will remain in the position for an additional year to facilitate a smooth leadership transition in 2018.
David Koff will complete his second term as chair of radiology at the end of June, and he will serve as acting chair for up to one more year while the Faculty finishes the search for a new department chair.
Cathy Risdon will serve as acting chair of family medicine from Sept. 1, 2017 through Feb. 28, 2018 while Chair David Price is on a leave.
“I want to thank Dr. Hutton and Dr. Koff for their commitment to their roles over the past decade and for staying on until their successors are appointed,” said Paul O’Byrne, dean and vice-president for the Faculty of Health Sciences. “I also welcome Dr. Risdon to her new role.”
Hutton is the director of the midwifery education program and a professor of obstetrics and gynecology as well as health research, evidence and impact. She also held the prestigious position as a professor of midwifery science at Vrije University in the Netherlands from 2010 to 2015.
At McMaster since 2008, Koff is chair and professor of radiology and also radiologist-in-chief for diagnostic imaging at Hamilton Health Sciences.
Risdon is a senior associate chair of medical services and a professor of family medicine at McMaster, where she has worked since 1996. She is an associate member of the School of Rehabilitation Science. She is also deputy chief, family medicine, for Hamilton Health Sciences.
During his leave, Price plans to visit a number of high-performing primary health-care systems, including Great Britain, the Netherlands and Denmark, to better understand their innovations.
