The 18-Month Visit Planner is a free planning and educational app that lets parents decide which health priorities they want to talk about at the checkup. The app even suggests questions for parents to ask in the important areas of physical health, motor and language skills, safety, parenting and healthy habits, and social and emotional development.
When seeing the doctor to review your baby’s first 18 months, it’s easy to forget a few questions you planned to ask.
A new web application will help parents prepare for that check-up.

The app has been developed by McMaster University’s Division of e-Learning Innovation (DeLI), an educational research and development group within the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, with funding from the Government of Ontario.
“Ontario’s enhanced 18-month well baby visit is at a critical time in the child’s development,” said Dr. Anthony Levinson, director of DeLI. “We want parents and health care providers to have good and thorough discussions, and to increase parents’ awareness of the critical development stages of their child.”
Within five to ten minutes on the 18-Month Visit Planner, parents may develop a personalized visit plan for their child, and that plan may be shared, printed or emailed to ensure easy access during the scheduled appointment.
Parents may learn more at the Visit Planner Website, at http://www.myvisit.ca
There is a section on the app for health professionals, who may also learn more through free and certified medical education programs offered by machealth at http://machealth.ca/programs/.
