Med student wins Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Award

Branavan Manoranjan, an MD/PhD student at McMaster University, has been selected as a Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Award recipient. The award recognizes second-year medical students who demonstrate academic excellence, superior communication skills, school and community involvement, and show outstanding potential as future leaders and innovators of health care in Canada.

The award recognizes second-year medical students who demonstrate academic excellence, superior communication skills, school and community involvement, and show outstanding potential as future leaders and innovators of health care in Canada.
Manoranjan completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) degree at McMaster. His doctoral research, completed under the supervision of Sheila Singh, associate professor of surgery and biochemistry at McMaster and scientist at the university’s Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute, identified an innovative treatment paradigm with high clinical utility for the most malignant pediatric brain tumor, medulloblastoma.
Each award recipient receives a cash prize of $5,000 and a travel subsidy to attend the 2019 Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Montreal on May 2, 2019.
