Provides information about Kawasaki disease including signs, symptoms, treatments and coping strategies.
Kawasaki disease (KD) is an illness that causes inflammation in the blood vessels throughout the body. It was first identified in Japan by Tomisaku Kawasaki in 1967 and is now the most common cause of childhood-acquired heart disease in Western countries. Despite this, the cause of KD is yet to be determined. In addition, despite its wide prevalence, the symptoms of the disease are often misunderstood. This video provides a holistic understanding of Kawasaki Disease including signs, symptoms, treatments, coping strategies and more. We hope that this video is useful for parents with children who are diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease, as it was made with the goal of aiding in the decision-making process regarding their child’s health.
