Holiday Message From The Chair
For those department members who have been at the frontline of COVID-19 pandemic, your dedication is deeply appreciated.
I just wanted to take a moment both personally and on behalf of the leadership of the Department of Medicine to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season. Over the next few weeks, I hope that everyone gets some time off to spend it with your family, and if you are able, with others. It has been a challenging two years for all of us. For those department members who have been at the frontline of COVID-19 pandemic, your dedication is deeply appreciated. Most department members have not been on the frontline of COVID-19. Still, they have experienced many ramifications, including disruption of home and work life, and great uncertainty that has been exacerbated over the last couple of weeks.
However, irrespective of this, I hope that everyone can embrace and celebrate those things they hold dear and that we all take some time off to do something that we enjoy. It is becoming manifestly clear that although the physical and physiological consequences of COVID and its response have impacted many members of our community, the psychological impact is almost universal and, in some ways, is more severe. Acknowledging the stresses that we all face is an essential first step in designing strategies that will allow us to cope and thrive in this unprecedented environment.
I wish everyone Happy Holidays and look forward to a better 2022.
Season’s greetings!
