Dr. Justin Lee Appointed Assistant Professor, Division of Geriatric Medicine

Dr. Lee has received several regional and national awards including a CIHR Fellowship and CIHR Silver Award of Excellence.
Congratulations to Dr. Justin Lee on his appointment as Assistant Professor (Special), Division of Geriatric Medicine, effective July 1, 2021.
Dr. Lee completed a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto in 2006 followed by a Hospital Pharmacy Residency at University Health Network in 2007. He attended McMaster University where he completed a Doctor of Medicine at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, McMaster University in 2010; the Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2013; a Geriatric Medicine Residency in 2015 and was subsequently accepted into the Clinician Investigator Program.
Dr. Lee is in the final stages of completing his PhD in McMaster University’s Health Research Methodology program, specializing in clinical epidemiology and health services research. He has published 25 peer-reviewed papers and has several others currently under consideration for publication. Dr. Lee has a special interest in evidence-based prescribing, medication optimization and transitional care for older adults. He is currently principal investigator on large population-based studies focused on the epidemiology of older adult high-cost healthcare users and a randomized controlled trial evaluating a medication optimization and post-discharge virtual care intervention for older adults funded by the United States Deprescribing Research Network (USDeN) and the Academic Health Sciences Centre AFP Innovation Fund.
Dr. Lee has received several regional and national awards including a CIHR Fellowship, a CIHR Silver Award of Excellence, the David Sackett Scholarship, the Canadian Geriatrics Society Edmund Cowdry Award and studentship awards from the CIHR Drug Safety and Effectiveness Training program and the Ontario Drug Policy Research Network.
Dr. Lee will be taking a leadership role in the St. Joseph’s Health System Centre for Integrated Care and he will be an active member of the GERAS Centre for Aging Research.
Dr. Lee will be sited primarily at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
