Celebrations of life planned for Del Harnish and Joshua Shadd

Memorial services will be held for two faculty members, Del Harnish and Joshua Shadd on Thursday, Feb. 7. The location has been changed for the Shadd memorial.
Delsworth “Del” Harnish, vice-dean of undergraduate education for the Faculty of Health Sciences, died Nov. 26. He joined the Faculty in 1984, and he was the founding assistant dean of the popular Bachelor of Health Sciences program from 2000 to 2015. An award-winner for educational innovation, Harnish was known as a visionary for whom the students were the priority.
A celebration of life for him will be held Feb. 7 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the atrium of the Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery on the McMaster University campus.
Joshua Shadd passed away Dec. 15. A member of the Faculty since 2015, he was the director of the Division of Palliative Care and assistant professor of the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster. He was also a palliative care physician at St. Peter’s Hospital, and widely respected for his compassion, and his collaborative nature.
His celebration of life is set for Feb. 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the David Braley Health Sciences Center Auditorium 100 Main Street West in Hamilton.
All are invited and welcome to attend these celebrations of life.
