Do want to make an impact in health innovation this summer? We are currently looking for Innovation Consultant interns to work with Faculty of Health Sciences and MGDII senior leadership teams, faculty members, clinicians, and subject matter experts to support the development of innovation education and commercialization opportunities.
Please submit your application by March 12 at 11:59PM EST to be considered. Decisions and interviews will be completed by March 31.
THERE ARE UP TO TWO (2) POSITIONS AVAILABLE.
The candidate will:

Support researchers and clinicians in identifying opportunities for commercialization
-
Work with key stakeholders to understand research initiatives and perform business development (e.g. market research and market validation activities, market entry strategies) activities. Depending on the project, this may include product development and prototyping – creating design requirements and generating high-level specifications related to technical feasibility for the innovations.

Complete market overviews and case studies detailing specific clinical problems (e.g. provide insights into current state and future trajectories, as they relate to innovation).

Provide support for the development, delivery and assembly of content related to entrepreneurship (e.g. business plan workshops, financing considerations, grant applications).

Promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship through attending department meetings, medical rounds, conferences, coordinating innovation competitions and workshops, and other related events.

Other tasks related to MGDII efforts, as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is an individual with a strong entrepreneurial drive and a passion for health care innovation. They will flourish in an environment that encourages creative and innovative thinking, leadership, and working with multiple stakeholders. The following characteristics are encouraged:

Entrepreneurial mindset; action and detail oriented, analytical, sees problems as opportunities, comfortable with ambiguity, self-learner with strong business acumen.

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated excellence in problem-solving, decision making, and critical thinking.

Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure.

Strong interest in and deep knowledge of innovation and change across health care, design thinking, entrepreneurship and business modelling.

Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
-
Background/experience in medicine, engineering and/or business is an asset.
RATE OF PAY: $18-22 per hour (up to 35 hours per week)
PLACE OF WORK: Remote
DURATION: May 3 – Aug 27, 2021
