Vice-Dean Research
Jonathan Bramson
Vice-Dean, Research
My role as Vice-Dean, Research is to guide the research mission of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and this includes other responsibilities delegated by the Dean and Vice-President to facilitate the conduct of research and operational functions of the Faculty. I also interface with research leaders in other Faculties, research leaders at our hospital partners and Directors of research centres and institutes within FHS to promote research and set research priorities.
How I describe my role:
It is my goal to enable research whenever and wherever possible through support from the FHS Research Office and Health Research Services. Given my vantage point, I have an excellent view of the research across the university and can help researchers achieve their ambitions by leveraging existing resources or creating new ones.
What do I do?
Working with the University Vice-President, Research (VPR), the VPRs at our partner hospitals and my fellow Associate Deans of Research in the other Faculties, I foster a research environment that is conducive to cutting-edge, world-class research. To this end, I:
- Encourage and stimulate research activity among all sectors of FHS.
- Provide leadership in the initiation of new research ventures and in the development of new ways of funding research activities, equipment and personnel, including generating new revenue through collaborations in research, and fostering relationships with federal, provincial and charitable funding agencies.
- Encourage and stimulate scientific collaboration between FHS researchers and their peers in our partner hospitals and the other Faculties at McMaster, and promote the development of research opportunities for students and other trainees.
