Vice-Dean, Health Sciences and Executive Director, School of Nursing
My role as Vice-Dean, Health Sciences and Executive Director, School of Nursing is to be the senior academic and administrative leader of the School of Nursing. I am responsible for the educational, research and practice activities of the School, aligning with the mission of the Faculty of Health Sciences and promotion of the discipline within the Faculty, the university, and external communities.
How I describe my role:
My role is the central point in the administration, representing the School in Faculty and university affairs, and leading the affairs of the School of Nursing. I’m also responsible for the management of the school’s physical, financial and human resources.
What do I do?
I represent the School of Nursing within the Faculty and across the university campus and provide leadership to the School’s faculty, students and staff. Here is some of the work I do:
- Build strong partnerships with key groups to meet the challenges of the health care environment locally and within Canada; maintain international links that influence nursing education and research worldwide.
- Foster an inclusive climate within the school for the conduct of scholarship, teaching, and service.
- Facilitate the professional development of the School’s faculty through a variety of strategies, foster and encourage teaching and research programmes, linkage with established professionals, investigators, educators.
