Vice-Dean, Faculty Affairs
My role as Vice-Dean, Faculty Affairs is to guide matters related to faculty affairs, academic leadership and professional development and Code of Conduct. I oversee the Faculty’s strategy for furthering the success, well-being, and academic advancement of our faculty. I consult with partners within the university, community and partner hospitals and advise the Dean and Vice-President on issues that will guide those responsible for operationalizing the Faculty’s mission related to faculty affairs. I also oversee the activities of the Continuing Professional Development Office through the Associate Dean, Continuing Professional Development and the well-being portfolio through the Director of Faculty Well-Being.
How I describe my role:
This role is one of extensive collaboration with Chairs, Vice-Deans of the Schools, Associate Deans of Equity & Inclusion and Indigenous Health. I also interact closely with the Office of Respectful Conduct in Clinical & Academic Environments (ORCCA).
What do I do?
I work closely with Faculty and hospital leadership to enhance the faculty experience and oversee the development of Faculty-wide initiatives that optimize recruitment, development, promotion and retention of top academic talent. I am dedicated to serving the needs of our faculty and fostering their continued growth, success and well-being. My responsibilities include:
- Providing expertise and advice to Faculty leadership on matters related to faculty professional behaviours and respectful conduct, and working to advance professionalism across all our programs and health professions.
- Supporting and promoting the development and coordination of continuing professional development activities and resources that assist faculty in advancing their professional success in research, education, clinical scholarship, leadership and administrative roles.
- Cultivating a culture of well-being by developing a strategic vision and approach to create an environment that offers holistic support, fosters positive relationships and promotes healthy habits and resiliency.
