Uncovering the Sedentarism Pandemic

This video outlines the characteristics of a sedentary lifestyle in the context of university students during a lockdown, the associated health risks and suggestions for how to reduce sedentary behaviours.
In the past few decades, our lifestyles have collectively shifted from ones that were physically demanding to ones that prevent very few physical challenges – this is known as a sedentary lifestyle. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have also been required to adjust to a new normal of ‘social distancing’ and ‘sheltering in place’ which has further increased our sedentary behaviours. So while we are facing a viral pandemic, we are also facing the sedentarism pandemic.
