Prof receives Order of Canada

Dr. Harriet MacMillan received her investiture as a member of the Order of Canada in Ottawa last week from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
Dr. Harriet MacMillan received her investiture as a member of the Order of Canada in Ottawa last week from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
The psychiatrist and pediatrician was honoured for her career in leading research in the prevention of, and response to, family violence.
She is a professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and the Department of Pediatricsat the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.
Members of the Order of Canada, one of the nation’s highest civilian honours, are noted for their outstanding contributions at the local or regional level or in a special field of activity.
The Order of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. It recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society for their varied contributions, which have enriched the lives of others and made a difference to the country.
