Drs. Flavia Kessler Borges, Michael McGillion and Sandra Ofori were the keynote Speakers.
The St. Joseph’s Healthcare Medical Grand Rounds held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 focused on the topic: Three major areas to improve perioperative care and outcomes: the HIP ATTACK-2, PREVENT and PVC-RAM 2 and 3 trials. Drs. Flavia Kessler Borges, Michael McGillion and Sandra Ofori were the keynote Speakers.
The objectives were to:
- Gain insights into the prognostic relevance of myocardial injury in patients presenting with a hip fracture and the potential of accelerated surgery to improve outcomes;
- Understand the huge missed opportunity that perioperative smoking cessation represents and potential for interventions to address this problem; and
- Become informed about the importance of surgical transitions from hospital to home and ways that we may address the problems of high ER visits, re-hospitalizations, drug errors, pain, and suboptimal medical management for long-term health.
The presentation is now available on the Department of Medicine YouTube Channel.
