Attachment Style Series: Introduction to Attachment Theory What are attachment styles and how do they impact our relationships? In this two-part video series, we will outline what attachment theory is and how it plays a major role in doctor-patient relationships. The basis of the attachment theory was first established by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth. They found that our upbringing and the attention we receive from our parents as infants is what develops our attachment to individuals. This influences how we present ourselves as adults and our ability to maintain relationships with friends and family. This video will outline the differences between secure and insecure attachments in the context of a child and an adult.
