Odds are that you have probably heard of 3D printers which can print 3D objects with plastics and other artificial materials. Bioprinting is an extension of traditional 3D printing. Bioprinting can produce living tissue, bone, blood vessels and, potentially, whole organs for use in medical procedures, training and testing. This technology may eventually decrease our dependence on organ donors for transplant surgeries. This video raises awareness about the equipment and techniques used in the bioprinting process. Featuring Dr. P. Ravi Selvaganapathy, a professor at McMaster University’s School of Biomedical Engineering, this video also explores some of the current challenges and future developments in this field.
