Dr. Minan Abbas Appointed Assistant Professor, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism

Dr. Abbas completed medical education at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and the University of Manchester in the UK.
Congratulations to Dr. Minan Abbas on being appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, effective July 1st, 2021.
Dr. Abbas completed medical education at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and the University of Manchester in the UK. Thereafter she completed foundation training at the UK’s National Health Service from 2012 to 2014. She holds current registration with the General Medical Council.
Dr. Abbas completed Internal Medicine residency training in 2017 and Endocrinology fellowship training in 2019 both at University of Western Ontario. She then undertook a one year clinical fellowship in Adult Endocrinology in Pregnancy and Reproductive Endocrinology at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
In November 2020 Dr. Abbas completed a Masters in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. As part of her degree program, she completed a quality improvement initiative that successfully sustained improvement in physician documentation and counselling delivery of preconception and postpartum Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines key recommendations at Mount Sinai Hospital Endocrine and Pregnancy clinic. In addition, she designed a patient education leaflet to reinforce counselling recommendations.
Dr. Abbas joined the Department of Medicine as a Clinical Scholar in the Division of Endocrinology in July 2020. She is based at McMaster University Medical Centre. Her healthcare delivery includes; Diabetes and Endocrine pre-conception clinic, High Risk Endocrine and Diabetes pregnancy clinic, general endocrinology and diabetes care. In addition, she provides inpatient Endocrinology consultation at MUMC and at Juravinski Hospital.
Her publications include: Severe combined dyslipidemia with a complex genetic basis.
