Dr. Kimberley Lewis Appointed Assistant Professor, Division of Critical Care
Dr. Lewis has received numerous awards including the David Sackett Award and St. Joseph’s Studentship Award.
Congratulations to Dr. Kimberley Lewis on her appointment as Assistant Professor, Division of Critical Care, effective July 1st 2021.
Dr. Lewis obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from McMaster, a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, and a Master of Science from the University of Calgary. Her undergraduate Medical Degree was obtained from the University of Calgary in 2014. She has completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, adult Critical Care, the Clinician Investigator Program, and a Master of Health Research Methodology, all at McMaster University between 2014 and 2021.
Dr. Lewis has received numerous awards including the David Sackett Award, St. Joseph’s Studentship Award, Paul O’Byrne Internal Medicine Research Grant, and Clinician Investigator Program Ministry of Health Funding, amongst others.
Her international research program “Non-invasive ventilation and dexmedetomidine in critically ill adults (inDEX)” is funded by the Hamilton Academic Health Sciences Organization Innovation Grant and the Research Institute of St. Joe’s Constantine Douketis New Researcher Award. She also co-leads the “Cuff leak test and airway obstruction in mechanically ventilated ICU patients (COMIC)” research program, supervises resident and fellow projects, and is a guideline methodologist for Guide Canada.
Dr. Lewis has 27 lifetime peer-reviewed manuscripts, the majority of which are as first author and in high impact critical care journals (e.g., Intensive Care Medicine, Chest, and Critical Care Medicine), three non-peer-reviewed book chapters, has presented at a number of local, national and international meetings, and is a frequent invited lecturer at several national meetings.
From an educational perspective, she is a lecturer, point of care ultrasound instructor, Internal Medicine Academic Coach, and is the creator and chair of the Internal Medicine point-of-care ultrasound curriculum.
