Dr. Kanjana Perera Wins Department of Medicine Annual Award for Associate Professors

Dr. Perera was promoted to Associate Professor in the Division of Neurology effective July 2020. She's an Investigator in the Brain Health research program at PHRI and a stroke neurologist at HHS.
Congratulations to Dr. Kanjana (Sashi) Perera on winning one of the Department’s Annual Awards for Associate Professors. She was promoted to Associate Professor in the Division of Neurology effective July 2020.
In addition to her academic appointment, Dr. Perera is an Investigator in the Brain Health research program at PHRI and a stroke neurologist at Hamilton Health Sciences. Her main research focus is on secondary stroke prevention, cryptogenic stroke, and uncommon causes of stroke and the optimization of clinical care in this patient population.
Dr. Perera is also the Co-Assistant Program Director of the Neurology Resident Training Committee, Co-Chair of the Canadian Stroke Consortium Education Committee and an elected board member of the Canadian Stroke Consortium. In addition, she is the Principal Investigator of the nationally conducted CATIS-ICAD study and international multicenter Y-ESUS registry. She serves as a Co-Investigator for many Phase II and III clinical trials and is on the adjudication committees for international multicenter stroke/cardiovascular trials. She has received CIHR, PHRI and HHS awards for her research and has published in many high impact journals.
