Dr. Conor Cox appointed as incoming R4 Program Lead, Internal Medicine Program
Dr. Conor Cox is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and a graduate of the Internal Medicine program at McMaster University.
The Internal Medicine Residency Program is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Conor Cox as the incoming R4 Program Lead for the Internal Medicine Program. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Ameen Patel, who has done a stellar job in this position over the past few years.
Dr. Cox’s term is effective immediately, although Dr. Patel will provide coverage while Dr. Cox is away on parental leave between June 7 to August 27.
Dr. Conor Cox is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and a graduate of the Internal Medicine program at McMaster University. In 2019, he completed a GIM fellowship at the same institution followed by a one-year Clinical Scholarship which included six months of training in Obstetrical Medicine in Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Cox is actively involved in residency education and is enthusiastic to work with the Internal Medicine residency team to supervise the R4 residents.
Dr. Ameen Patel has held this position since 2015. His dedication in supervising all aspects of training has been invaluable to the R4 residents during their final year of Internal Medicine training. Also acting as a mentor, he has provided customized support to pre-graduate trainees who are facing the important stage of job planning. Residents with focused goals were scheduled for relevant learning opportunities, allowing them to achieve mastery within their chosen area of interest. His collaboration with the Residency Program office has been consistent and unyielding. Support from his Administrative Coordinator, Sharon Hendershott, has contributed to a solid organizational structure and open channels of communication between our offices. Dr. Patel’s high performance in this role is not surprising, given his outstanding accomplishments in each of his many other leadership positions within the Department of Medicine.
A warm welcome is extended to Dr. Conor Cox as he joins the Internal Medicine Residency Program leadership team.
