Dr Nader Khalidi Appointed Director, Rheumatology Division
Congratulations to Dr Nader Khalidi on being appointed the Division Director, Rheumatology.
Dr Nader Khalidi was appointed the Division Director, Rheumatology, Department of Medicine, effective July 1st 2021. Dr. Khalidi joined the McMaster University Department of Medicine in 2001. He was Rheumatology Program Director from 2003-2019. He graduated from the University of Manitoba and did his residency in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the University of Chicago at Illinois.
Dr. Khalidi has been successfully involved in vasculitis clinical research for the past 15 years. He has been involved as a Steering Committee Member and Co-Investigator of the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC). He is the PI of a local MRI-Giant Cell arteritis database that has now recruited over 500 patients and has had a major contribution to imaging of scalp arteries with Magnetic Resonance Imaging published in 2017 that has been supported in the recent European guidelines for use of imaging in large vessel vasculitis in clinical practice. He has been an investigator in the largest Vasculitis research project, DCVAS (Diagnostic and Classification in Vasculitis, Oxford) and was a top recruiter with over 150 patients as well as a contributor to the new diagnostic and classification criteria in development.
Dr. Khalidi has won numerous teaching awards with the most recent being the McMaster University Department of Medicine Teaching Award Postgraduate Education 2019/20.
