Congratulations to Dr. Anthony Rullo who has been awarded the Medicine Internal Career Research Award.
Anthony Rullo, Ph.D, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at McMaster University and faculty member of the McMaster Chemical Biology Graduate Program. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Toronto where he developed chemical probes and biosensors of heparin-protein binding interactions. In 2014 Dr. Rullo pursued postdoctoral training under the mentorship of Prof. David A. Spiegel at Yale University, where he pioneered “synthetic immunity” technology and the creation of antibody recruiting molecule “ARM” tumor immunotherapies. In 2017 he founded the Rullo Laboratory, a translational chemical biology lab integrated within the department of medicine and the McMaster Immunology Research Center (MIRC). Dr. Rullo’s research program leverages tools and principles of organic chemistry, physical biochemistry, and immunology to develop new synthetic “proximity-inducing/molecular glue” therapeutic strategies to modulate immune recognition of pathogenic targets.
