Accuracy of Referrals to an Ophthalmologist (AccuRO)
Medical charts of over 1,300 children were examined to determine whether referrals to the pediatric ophthalmologist were necessary.
Current literature suggests that there may be a difference in diagnostic findings between referring healthcare providers and pediatric ophthalmologists. AccuRO aims to answer a clinically important question that has never been answered through a formal research study to date. Specifically, medical charts of over 1,300 children were examined to determine the level of agreement in diagnostic findings between referring healthcare professionals and a pediatric ophthalmologist at The Hogarth Family and Pioneer Energy Ophthalmology Centre at McMaster Children’s Hospital.
