A new way to tackle malaria … Using spit!
Malaria prevalence, worldwide eradication efforts, saliva-based rapid diagnostic tests and HRP2 deletion mutations in P. falciparum
Malaria is a life-threatening disease that is prevalent in vulnerable populations in many developing countries where transmission occurs through Anopheles mosquito bites. This video explores malaria prevalence and worldwide eradication efforts championed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It also presents new saliva-based rapid diagnostic tests that are an effective means of diagnosing malaria, even in subclinical manifestations. The video raises awareness of malaria eradication efforts and the potential benefits of this new diagnostic tool. It also looks into the creation of more targeted eradication strategies, reducing the cost of global health efforts and addressing new concerns of HRP2 deletion mutations in P. falciparum.
