The high quality of research by graduate and postdoctoral students was celebrated at the 2017 Faculty of Health Sciences Research Plenary Awards reception yesterday (May 31) afternoon in the Jan and Mien Heersink Reading Pavilion of the Health Sciences Library.
The awards, now in their eighth year, reflect the Faculty’s commitment to supporting and increasing the recognition of research excellence among individuals in graduate or postdoctoral training.
The research plenary, held May 16-18, included multiple poster and oral sessions, and this year featured more than 150 poster and oral presentations from across health sciences and Faculty-affiliated programs.
“Each year that we have held the event, the quality of the oral and poster presentations that showcase health-related research at our University reaches an even higher level of achievement,” said Catherine Hayward, associate dean of graduate studies of the Faculty.
“The individuals that we are honouring today deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to our Faculty’s and University’s research missions. We are very proud of what these young individuals are accomplishing and it is wonderful to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate their successes.”
