Health Sciences student awarded 2024 Cansbridge Fellowship
McMaster University Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) Program student Michelle Wan has been awarded the 2024 Cansbridge Fellowship.
The Cansbridge Fellowship accepts a cohort of highly ambitious Canadian students to accelerate their leadership development. Wan is one of 15 fellows attending a week-long conference in New York, a summer internship in Asia enabled by a $10,000 scholarship, and gaining a lifelong professional network.
“I am so grateful for the Faculty of Health Sciences for sponsoring this opportunity and excited to work with such kind and capable individuals,” said Wan, who hails from Markham, Ontario. “This fellowship will enable me to spend the summer growing my skills as a professional and a leader on a global scale, while joining a community of like-minded individuals. I hope to raise awareness among McMaster students about this wonderful opportunity and encourage them to consider pursuing it in the future.”
Following New York, Wan will travel to Tokyo, Japan for a 10-week self-organized internship. Fellows go abroad to push them out of their comfort zones, accelerate their personal growth, and show them the possibilities that exist outside of Canada.
“Many congratulations to Michelle Wan on this exciting fellowship,” said Paul O’Byrne, dean and vice-president of the Faculty of Health Sciences. “We are proud to support our students in accelerating their careers and building lifelong networks, and we wish Michelle the very best this summer in Tokyo.”
