Faculty names director of human resources

Don Breedon is joining McMaster University as the director of human resources for the Faculty of Health Sciences.
He begins in the role on June 5, 2023.
Don is a seasoned HR professional whose career spans high tech, civil engineering, municipal government, and healthcare, giving him a diverse range of perspectives and skills. Don’s project and change management background have empowered him to drive improvement and innovation within HR, as well as spearhead strategic priority initiatives at the corporate level. His eight years of experience in senior leadership roles and unionized public sector environments further enhances his ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
Prior to joining McMaster, Don served as the human resources manager for the City of St. Catharines, the chief human resources officer for Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, and the director of human resources for Pembroke Regional Hospital. Don holds a BA in Human Sciences from Laurentian University and is recognized as a Certified Human Resources Professional and Certified Human Resources Leader, demonstrating his commitment to continuous professional development, and upholding high standards in his field.
“Don has a breadth and depth of knowledge in many functional areas within the human resource portfolio and will play a leading role in advancing the strategic HR priorities within the Faculty,” says Laura Harrington, assistant vice-president of the Faculty of Health Sciences. “We are excited to welcome him to the Faculty of Health Sciences and its human resources team.”
