The winners of The Clinic @ Mac’s inaugural Boost Grants are four McMaster startup ventures supported by The Clinic @ Mac’s Residency Program. The winning teams demonstrated a dedication to health innovation. They also articulated a specific barrier that stood in the way of their venture making it to its next milestone.
A total of $17,500 was awarded to ImaginAble Solutions, PROVA Innovations Ltd., FreeHand, and KardioSmart.
“The Clinic has provided exceptional support and mentorship for our start-up,” said Matthew Rosato, President and Founder of PROVA Innovations Ltd. “The guidance The Clinic has provided has helped us to fully develop a strategic plan around our regulatory pathway.” PROVA Innovations Ltd. is developing a suite of smart wearables that aid in motor control and neurorehabilitation for adults and children with limited walking mobility due to a brain injury or neurological disorder.
Ankit Garg, a cardiology fellow at McMaster University, is the driving force behind KardioSmart – a non-invasive remote monitoring system for patients with congestive heart failure. “The Clinic @ Mac’s Residency Program has been a great experience and tremendous resource in facilitating our progress,” said Garg who recently expanded the KardioSmart team with the help of The Clinic’s @ Mac’s network. The team plans to use the grant to continue research and build a prototype for their innovation.
