Professor emerita Mary Law, who was pivotal in the advancement of academic rehabilitation science in Canada, has received an honorary degree from McMaster University at the fall convocation for the Faculty of Health Sciences. While at McMaster from 1987 to 2015, she was co-founder of CanChild, a national, multi-disciplinary research centre which changed the approach to child disability research to include their families. Her work influenced the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health.

Dina Brooks, professor and vice-dean (health sciences) and executive director of McMaster’s School of Rehabilitation Science has received an honorary degree from the University of Ottawa. Brooks received the recognition at the university’s Faculty of Health Sciences convocation this week, noting her international leadership in cardiorespiratory rehabilitation.
