Multiple scholarships or awards will not be awarded to any one student in any given year. Students will be awarded the highest award for which they are eligible. Only the Citizenship Award and the Joint OT/PT/SLP Awards may be awarded in addition to another SLP Program Award.
Entrance Scholarships - $2000-$5000 ea.
Entrance Scholarships are offered to top ranked applicants, based on a combination of application sub-GPA and MMI scores/feedback. Applicants who have been selected to receive an entrance scholarship will be notified in their Offer of Admission letter.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) - $15000 ea.
The OGS is the highest award granted by the program. It is given to one student in the first year of the program (entering their second year) and one student at admission. The in-program OGS is given for outstanding performance in all aspects of the program and as a future leader of the profession, as determined by the Assistant Dean in consultation with faculty and staff. The admission OGS award is given for academic excellence prior to admission and outstanding MMI performance.
Selection Process: For the in-program OGS, a combination of cumulative GPA, cumulative placement feedback, and overall service to program is used to rank students. For the admission OGS, a combination of the admission sub-GPA, MMI scores and comments is used to rank applicants. Application is not required for either OGS.
Awarded:
For the recipient entering the program, this will be awarded at admission and outlined in the Offer of Admission letter.
For the in-program/year 1 recipient, this will be awarded in July

Dean’s Excellence - $5000 ea.
The Dean’s Excellence Award is the highest award granted by the program, excluding the winner of the OGS. It is given to one student in each year of the program for outstanding performance in all aspects of the program and as a future leader of the profession, as determined by the Assistant Dean in consultation with faculty and staff.
Selection Process: A combination of cumulative GPA, cumulative placement feedback, and overall service to program is used to rank students. Application is not required for the Dean’s Excellence Award.

For year 2 students, this will be awarded in July
For year 1 students, this will be awarded in July
Academic Achievement Award - $2000 ea.
The Academic Achievement Award is given to one student in each year of the program, in recognition of consistently outstanding performance in all academic courses in the previous two academic units (CGPA).
Selection Process: Students are ranked by CGPA. Performance across Units 1-2 is considered for Year 1 students and performance across Units 3-4 is considered for Year 2 students. Where there is a tie, awards will be decided by faculty vote. Application is not required for the Academic Achievement Award.

Clinical Achievement Award - $2000 ea.
The Clinical Achievement Award is given to one student in each year of the program in recognition of consistently outstanding performance on clinical placements and in Clinical Skills Lab.
Selection Process:
The Director of Clinical Education reviews grades from CSL, ratings and comments provided on the Assessment of Observational Placement Performance, the Assessment of Clinical Competence, the Assessment of Self-Directed Learning, as well as any additional commendations from Clinical Instructors. Performance across Units 1-2 is considered for Year 1 students and performance across Units 3-4 is considered for Year 2 students.
For year 2 students, this will be awarded in July
For year 1 students, this will be awarded in July
Citizenship Award - $500 ea.
The Citizenship Award is given to two students in each year of the program. The award recognizes students who consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, support program activities or are involved in activities in the SLP community, and show respect for faculty, staff, and fellow students.
Selection Process: Students are invited to submit a description of their service to the field. Staff, faculty, and fellow student nominations will also be considered, and the decision will be made by the Scholarship Committee based on review and discussion of the applications/nominations.

For year 1 students, this will be awarded in July

SLP Citizenship Award Application
CanChild Research Award - $50 per team member to a maximum of $200
The CanChild Research Award was established in 2011 by CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research to encourage exploration of important issues in childhood disability. The award is offered to graduating students in the OT/PT/SLP programs.
In the SLP program, the award is granted to the student team who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and research excellence in an evidence-based practice project focused on child or youth disability. The Award is presented to:
• members of the graduating class who have demonstrated excellence and enthusiasm in a research project related to childhood disability
Selection Process: The EBP Coordinators will select the most outstanding team pediatric project in EBP. Team members will share the award.
Awarded: For year 2 students, this will be awarded in July
Application: Application is not required
