The Neuroscience Division conducts world-renowned innovative research in the field of basic and applied neurosciences. Our research integrates a variety of subspecialties including molecular, cellular, behavioural, and clinical neuroscience. This division is involved in research training of highly qualified personnel, translational research, drug discovery, and knowledge translation and dissemination. The members of this division are involved in academic teaching activities at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels at McMaster University. This division intends to further the field’s understanding of the pathophysiology of various neuropsychiatric disorders, through the identification of biomarkers, development of novel drugs and drug carriers, and utilization of pre-clinical translational animal models. Ultimately, the findings from this division are translated to the clinical setting with the goal of improving the diagnosis, treatment, and/or prevention of neuropsychiatric illnesses.
