General Psychiatry

Exploring and understanding the interface between medicine and psychiatry is one of the strategic directions endorsed by the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences. We are pleased to have a number of outstanding Consultation-Liaison faculty who are internationally recognized, particularly for their contributions in neuro-psychiatry and are currently engaged in related research.

With three general hospitals and specific programs such as the Regional Cancer Centre, Trauma Centre and Children’s Hospital, there are a plethora of opportunities to interact with medical and surgical specialties. Research is currently underway examining the brain-gut connection, impact of ICU admissions, bariatric care, as well as a range of collaborations within neuropsychiatry.
