The McMaster Education Research, Innovation and Theory (MERIT) Program has served the Faculty of Health Sciences for more than 45 years. We collaborate with faculty to engage in high-impact, high-value education scholarship. Currently, we have 6 scientists and several research support staff along with the addition of new MERIT members, scholars and adjunct scientists.
Our vision is to grow a community of scientists and clinicians to advance health professions education through research and applied science.
MERIT produces evidence to develop health professional expertise. We do this by advancing:
Research on education in clinical, classroom, digital, and simulated learning environments
Innovative designs and policies for teaching, learning and assessment
Theories of social, professional, and cognitive skill development for high-quality healthcare
