Congratulations  to Dr. Jason Cheung on being awarded the Department of Medicine Annual Award 2021 for Associate Professors.  Dr. Cheung was promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, effective July 1, 2020.

Dr. Cheung obtained his medical degree from McMaster University in 2010. This was followed by the completion of his Internal Medicine Residency and General Internal Medicine fellowship training also at McMaster University. Prior to his academic appointment, he gained experience as a Clinical Scholar in the Department of Medicine and successfully completed a Master of Health Management through the DeGroote School of Business.

Dr. Cheung joined the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) on July 1, 2015. In addition to his academic appointment, he was also appointed as an attending Physician at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and St. Joseph's Health Care Hamilton (SJHH). 

Since the start of his appointment, Dr. Cheung has contributed to a variety of educational roles, including formal and informal clinical teaching and supervision, curriculum development, and hospital administration.  He served as the Director of the Clinical Teaching Unit at SJHH from 2016 to 2020, and most recently, was appointed Head of Service, GIM at SJHH in July 2021.He and his wife Jane are the proud parents of their 9-month old, Emma (Congratulations to the Happy Parents!).
