Sarrah Lal shared ideas for bringing innovation into healthcare on a recent edition of the MacPFD Spark Podcast. Lal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and creates educational programs as part of the Michael G. DeGroote Health Innovation, Commercialization & Entrepreneurship (MGD Health ICE) initiative.
“We’re focused on helping people understand how to create new value in healthcare,” Lal described of the initiative. “It’s a lot of thinking about the challenges that exist within the clinical setting, assessing different potential solutions that help to resolve those challenges, and even thinking about creating a start-up or a new venture from that great idea that’s in your head.”
This September, Lal will kick off a new cohort of Health Ventures – a series of courses and educational opportunities aimed at helping clinicians, medical residents, researchers, and students navigate the complex landscape of entrepreneurship and innovation in healthcare.
During episode 22 of the MacPFD Spark podcast, Lal shared her three starting steps for evaluating an innovative idea on its market potential. Listen to the podcast below or via the MacPFD website.
