Welcome to the FIRH!

The Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health (FIRH) is based out of St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is affiliated with McMaster University. Clinical, research and educational activities are integrated and largely collaborative within the FIRH. The intent of this institute is to provide optimal patient care through clinical practice, translational research and the training of health care professionals.

Recent News

Dr. MyLinh Duong is the recipient of The 2022-2023 Stewart Pugsley Division of Respirology Mentorship Award. The award was presented to Dr. Duong at the Spotlight on Chronic Respiratory Care Symposium in Honour of Dr. Pugsley on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Dr. Duong is an Associate Professor and a Clinical Educator with the Department of Medicine, McMaster University. She is the Head of the Clinical Respirology Service at Hamilton Health Sciences. Her practice is based at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Center, Hamilton, where she is involved in clinical teaching and manages respiratory conditions in the oncology and hemopoietic stem cell transplant populations. She is an Associate Scientist at the Population Health Research Institute, and the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging, where she leads the respiratory data collection in several large CIHR funded epidemiology studies. Her research focus is on the socio-environmental determinants of population lung health in adults.
