Jill Hamilton (MD, MSc, FRCPC) is Division Head of Endocrinology at the Hospital for Sick Children, Senior Associate Scientist at the Research Institute, and Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. Her clinical work is in endocrinology and diabetes with a particular focus in the areas of complex obesity. She is the medical director of the SickKids Team Obesity Management Program (STOMP). Her research focuses on the
metabolic complications of obesity in childhood, biologic and psychosocial determinants of obesity, and obesity treatment. She has over 150 peerreviewed publications and has received research funding from agencies
including Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), National Institute of Health (NIH), Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Diabetes Association.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. To recognize the underlying etiologies contributing to excess weight gain
  2. To develop an understanding of personalized care and treatment options for children with obesity
  3. To understand the lived experiences of teens with severe obesity
