RESEARCH INTERESTS: Diagnostic testing evaluation and quality assurance; new or novel diagnostic tests such as ocular nerve sheath sonography for elevated ICP, or the performance of previously established diagnostic tests in new uses; building an evidence base and toolkit for competency based education in targeted sonography.

He has led the development of national practice guidelines on the withdrawal of life sustaining measures and the donation of the heart after withdrawal of life sustaining measures.

Dr. Andrew Healey is a practicing emergency and critical care physician. Originally from Newfoundland, he obtained his medical degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and completed fellowships in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care in Hamilton. He later went on to complete the International Master in Donation of Cells, Tissues and Organs in Barcelona. He is the Chief Medical Officer — Donation for Trillium Gift of Life Network and the medical director and head of critical care at William Osler Health Services. He has led the development of national practice guidelines on the Withdrawal of Life Sustaining Measures and the Donation of the Heart after Withdrawal of Life Sustaining Measures. His special interests lie in patient engagement, medical leadership, organ donation and determination of death.
