We are currently living in a pandemic. As of November 1, 2020, COVID-19 has spread across 215 countries, infected over 45.9 million people, and claimed the lives of at least 1.19 million people. While COVID-19 testing has become more available across the country, information on how testing and diagnosis works has not been made easily accessible to the public. This video series aims to give a brief background on COVID-19, and discuss how COVID-19 is tested for and diagnosed, milestones in testing development, and the scientific and societal significance of these tests.
In Part 2 of this series (i.e., this video), we delve deeper into antibody (serology) testing, specifically how it works, its advantages and disadvantages. We also discuss the importance of PCR and serology testing, and testing regulations and guidelines in Ontario, Canada.
