Founded in 1987, CHEPA is a world-class interdisciplinary health research centre that fosters excellence in acquiring, producing and communicating socially-relevant knowledge in the fields of health economics and health policy analysis to inform fair and sustainable health and social systems.
To cultivate a collegial interdisciplinary environment that fosters excellence in policy-relevant research, education and service and informs fair and sustainable health and social systems.
Health and social policies locally and internationally are informed by policy-relevant research, well-trained scholars and independent (expert) advice.
The founding and growth of CHEPA parallels the genesis and growth of health economics as a research field. For more than 30 years, CHEPA researchers have directly helped to shape Canada’s health-care system, driving the development of the internationally-recognized Health Utilities Index and implementing methods for the economic evaluation of health-care services, systems and programs, as well as pioneering the field of health policy analysis.
