Pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences will prepare you for a multitude of post-graduate opportunities ranging from direct entry into the workforce to graduate school and professional school. Our undergraduate program and faculty span disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering. You will train in a truly cross-disciplinary atmosphere while gaining deep insights through inquiry-based learning.

Graduates in Biochemistry at McMaster are especially well prepared for careers in the life sciences and molecular medicine!

You may choose from a more general course of study in the Honours Biochemistry program, or you may choose to specialize in our Biomedical Research Specialization which includes the completion of a senior thesis with a supervisor at the McMaster campus or in area hospitals. In addition, our exceptional Co-operative Education Program offers students first-hand exposure to potential careers in the academic or industrial sectors, leaving them with new confidence, expertise and knowledge when they return to their academic terms.
