Welcome from the Chair
The integration of education, research, and community partnership is at the heart of what we do. Through our two undergraduate programs, Biochemistry and Biomedical Discovery & Commercialization, we take a unique approach to learning by having research embedded throughout the curriculum from start to finish. Our Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization program builds on this by giving students experiential learning opportunities in the private sector to gain hands-on skills and to grow their professional networks. Our graduate programs are equally strong, recruiting from among the best talent in the country. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows work at the leading edge of scientific discovery to yield dramatic discoveries that uncover the inner workings of biological systems in health and disease. Our trainees are mentored by some of the brightest minds in science who are research leaders in the fields of microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell and cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, human genetic diseases, and more. In Biochemistry & Biomedical Sciences, we dream big to tackle the most pressing problems in our fields.
